Rationale

Our chosen topic was a save the arts event where there will be a reopening event and concert for the old town hall. We are mainly targeting the younger generation with our modern design but also music and art lovers. We used the colours black and yellow to represent Wellington, and used photographs of music/concerts and the architecture of the old town hall. We used the slogan “Face the Music” as it is a common saying everyone is familiar with but also relates to music. On the poster we decided to showcase the town hall’s architecture and also the performance of the concert to set the vibe of the event. The brush strokes lead the eye from the title text, down to the image and the small type and another brush stroke leading the eye across to the image of the town hall. The website and album also feature these brush strokes as a mark of identity of our style to create a cohesion across all media.

Thanks to Connor's friend, Jarrod! For letting us use his fantastic images for our website!

Week 6

What was your favourite aspect of the project? We enjoyed experimenting with different design styles and finding the one that suited our event across all media. Your biggest learning? Learning transmedia and how to keep a cohesion across the website, poster and 3rd item without them looking exactly the same. What would you change or do differently? If we had more time would've coded the website and incorporated animation and more advanced techniques to make the website more interesting. We also would've made the CD pouch rather than putting it in a plastic case.

Week 5

In week 5 we had interim on monday, the main feedback we got was on our website saying we should play around more with the layering of the images and take a more minimalistic approach when layering them to make the website look more clean and tidy. People really liked our album cover with the brush strokes and suggested we add the brush strokes to the poster and website as well. We took this feedback and applied the brush strokes to the poster and website, the brush strokes became part of the identity of our style and theme.

Week 4

Monday In today's class, we decided to work on our poster, further developing it so we can start on our website. We had the chance to talk to Andre about our poster development, he gave some valuable feedback, he seemed to like where we were heading so that gave us a positive feeling. Also gave some advice on how to make the design more better. Thursday In today's class, me and Connor did our own thing, I wanted to work on my development of the poster, but I decided to leave it and let Connor finish it off while I work on the website so we have something for interim presentations on Monday. After class, we had a discussion on who works on what, Connor finalising poster and create flyers. Myself (Rj), creating a new website and mobile.
